Thank you, God, for Good Friday.
Good Friday - the day Jesus was crucified even though He literally did no wrong. The religious leaders of the day were filled with jealousy and pride, and instead of accepting the truth of Jesus, they hung Truth on the cross to die.
And in His absolute goodness, He willingly went to the cross, and took upon the world's sins - including the sins of those who sent Him there, the sins of you and me, and the sins of everyone around us.
He took our sin and died a sinner's death, so that we could be saved.
And in His final breath, He declared, "It is finished." (John 19:30). Sin is finished. Death is finished.
On this side of heaven we still experience it, but instead of crushing despair, we have everlasting, expectant hope that He will return and make all things new, in His perfect time (Revelation 21:5, Ecclesiastes 3:1).
To me, that's more than just good. That's amazing grace and love in its purest form.
Simply put: thank you, God, for Good Friday.
